Company Overview

In 2004, Wylie Steel was purchased by 12 key employees led by original founder, Frank Wylie.  In many ways Wylie Steel is a new company but the core ideals and the commitment to quality and service remain.  The management that made Wylie Steel successful in the 90’s is back and excited about taking the Company further.

TYPE OF SERVICE

Work with our own forces includes the fabrication of all types of structural and miscellaneous steel for commercial, industrial and institutional applications. Our fabrication processes include the utilization of over twenty certified welders, two maximum size shape saws (computer controlled), three plate and angle ironworkers, three radial drills, a computer controlled drill line, a computer controlled conveyorized beam flange and web punching and marking machine, a computer controlled angle fabricating machine, over thirty welding machines and numerous other punches and drills.

Work normally subcontracted includes the furnishings of steel joists and joist girders, metal decking, roofing and sidings, and field labor and supervision (erection).

Quality Control Program: Certified by AISC for simple and complex structures, a written program of material control and fabrication standards and inspection is maintained and available for inspection.

Procurement Control: Procurement procedures are spelled out in our Quality Control Manual. Procurements are scheduled to mesh with shop drawing preparation and approval and as required to maintain production.

Safety Program: Shop standards are maintained as required by OSHA including regularly scheduled Safety Meetings.

Production Capacity: Though we have produced as much as 4,000 productive man-hours per week, normal capacity for us is 2,500 to 3,000 chargeable hours. Tonnage depends upon the mix of work in our shop at any given time, but normal production would be approximately 250 tons per week and could exceed 400 tons per week during peak periods.

Guarantee of Schedule: We are committed to schedules on all our work and our reputation is based on that service, second only to quality. A review of our client list reveals continuing relationships over the life of our company, a strong indication that we meet our commitments.
